The growing requirements set by the labour market for the professionally active group as well as the changes in our countries’ economy motivate to improve the qualifications in order to increase the chances for getting the job and satisfying pay. Higher education with the aim of fulfilling the growing expectations of the prospective students broadens its educational offer. Beside public universities more and more often non-public colleges are established. This provides the prospective students with more various studies’ majors and more complete educating system offering not only day studies, but also night and extramural system of studying.

a) refers to the last academic year

 

There are 14 higher colleges functioning in the Świętokrzyskie Province, including 2 non-public ones. In the academic year 2004/05 they educated 65134 Polish and foreign students including 38820 women (59,6 % of all students). The number of students was slightly higher than last year (by 6%). The largest in the region are the public institutions:

The rest of the students, 27470 people gained knowledge in 12 non-public colleges.
